"IN ORDER TO WRITE ABOUT LIFE FIRST YOU MUST LIVE IT."
ERNEST HEMINGWAY
This Blog Was Born Out Of Necessity.
For a long time, I had struggled to complete even a simple piece of writing. It seemed no matter how closely I outlined, drafted, and edited my work, it always fizzled out: the words would feel lifeless and incomplete against the page. Then, I came across the above quote from Hemingway.
These words forced me confront something about myself I had not yet faced. I have been so focused on putting words to the page that I forgot to get out and experience the world. This is why this blog was born: out of necessity to make more intentional efforts to see the world and to capture it with the written word.
I am not what you would consider an experienced traveler, but I do intend to embrace the art of travel and to share it with you.

Allow Me To Introduce Myself
My name is John Pullen, and I am an aspiring writer and traveler in Dallas, Texas. I have spent years as a freelance writer reporting on the airline industry, but after graduating college and beginning a full-time job, I decided that pursuing travel experiences and capturing them with creative writing was where I wanted to focus my efforts. That said, I am so happy you're here.
Outside of travel and writing, I am a major avgeek and bookworm. In the past few years, I have focused on reading the classics (I am a big fan of Hemingway) but I look forward to expanding into more modern literature soon. Prior to my move to Dallas, I lived in Denver, Colorado and (long ago) Monmouth County, New Jersey (I am an East Coaster at heart).
